This year’s GUC public event will focus on the relevance of collaboration and competition when it comes to establishing universities as effective platforms for sustainability and social innovation.
How can universities and university leaders shape the way forward when navigating competition and collaboration locally, nationally, and globally? This is the focus of this year's edition of the Global University Leaders Council Hamburg.
GUC’s public event aims at further discussing the council’s topic with regard to the universities’ role in the key areas of sustainability and social innovation. Zarah Bruhn, Commissioner for Social Innovation, Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and Laura Edinger-Schons, Chief Sustainability Officer of Universität Hamburg will jointly give a keynote on »Innovating and cooperating for a sustainable future: Universities as platforms for social innovation«. Afterwards, speakers will join in a dialogue session with Simone Buitendijk, Vice-Chancellor and President of University of Leeds, Manuel Kreitmeir, Social Entrepreneur, Social Innovation & Sustainability Expert and the Rector of the United Nations University Tshilidzi Marwala. The event will be moderated by Hauke Heekeren, President of Universität Hamburg.
The event addresses both the participants of the Hamburg Council as well as stakeholders from science, politics, economy, civil society and representatives of the media.
